U.S. Considers Deploying Aircraft Fleet in Korea

B-52 StratofortressSeoul and Washington are discussing the deployment of U.S. weaponry like B-2 stealth bombers, B-52 strategic bombers, nuclear-powered submarines and an aircraft carrier fleet which can carry out nuclear retaliation on or near the Korean Peninsula.

B-2 stealth bombers and B-52 bombers are currently stationed at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam, and nuclear-powered submarines at Yokosuka naval base in Japan.

Back in November 2010, when the North shelled Yeonpyeong Island, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington, E-8 Joint STARS, an aircraft that can track ground vehicles, and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters were deployed here for a joint exercise that was a show of force.
