Poseidon to come to our shores?

P-8A PoseidonThe Sepanggar naval base here could host the United States of America’s Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.

According to Boeing, the P-8A Poseidon is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.

US chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Admiral Jonathan W Greenert was quoted by www.seapowermagazine.org as saying that Malaysia had offered them to use the naval base in East Malaysia.

The facility in question is likely to be the Royal Malaysian Air Force base on the island of Labuan, off the coast of Borneo, which U.S. forces have used for exercises in the past, according to a U.S. Navy officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss the matter.
