Greece To Spend EUR 1B on Army Modernization

HS Kanaris (Elli class frigate)Greek Defense Ministry is planning a large-scale modernization of the army which will cost a minimum of EUR 1B.

Currently, the modernization program is up for consideration in the parliamentary defense committee. If approved, the plan will be launched by the end of July, according to local media, cited by Bulgarian private TV station BTV.

A total of 36 M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems will be modernized. Another part of the funds will go for the transportation of American Oshkosh HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) from the US to Greece.
