Alaska Crews Find Mechanical Glitches On F-22s After 4-Month Deployment To Rain-Soaked Guam

F-22 RaptorWhen it comes to maintaining the world's most advanced fighter aircraft, you can blame the latest round of short-term problems on the rain -- and, as it turns out, the ever-present moisture in Guam's air.

But as the President, Congress and the U.S. Department of Defense prepare to cap production on the F-22 Raptor, you can blame that on budgetary constraints guided by defense priorities.

The Air Force Times reports that crews at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska discovered problems with the electronics on board twelve F-22 Raptors after the $140-million-a-piece aircraft returned from a four-month deployment to Andersen Air Force Base on Guam.
