Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir says launching of second indigenously constructed Small Tanker cum Utility Ship STUS in short span of 45 days is reflective of combined efforts of Pakistan Navy and Karachi Shipyard to revitalize this strategic industry and ``boost our defence capabilities at sea.’’
Addressing the launching ceremony on Saturday at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works KSEW, he said that the completion of these ships will herald ``a new era in indigenous construction for the Navy. Is a step forward towards self- reliance, which is now our abiding policy.’’
Naval Chief said that F-22 P naval frigates project was also underway and work on fourth frigate will commence shortly at KSEW. The KSEW through these projects would prove to be an attractive entity for the regional navies, he observed.
