The newest addition to Saab's range of surveillance aircraft, the Erieye radar-equipped Saab 2000, is making its international debut this week, with the first example appearing in the static display at the Farnborough air show.Intended to deliver airborne early warning and control and air combat co-ordination services, the aircraft incorporates the latest Erieye system upgrades, including a self-protection system, electronic support measures, identification friend or foe, a radar warning receiver, and missile and laser approach warners.
Saab claims that the upgrades also enhance the aircraft's ability to detect small air targets, such as hovering helicopters.
