119 Navy Men Complete Training As "Submariners"

Some 119 Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) men and officers have completed a four-year submarine training in France to qualify as "submariners," said RMN chief Admiral Datuk Abdul Aziz Jaafar.

"This is quite an achievement as the training was very difficult," he said when closing the Malaysian Armed Forces athletics championship, here Thursday.

He said another 143 navy men and officers were undergoing the four-year training to handle the two Scorpene submarines bought at RM3.4 billion in 2002.
