Rosyth yard lands £35m contract to refit Royal Navy vessel

Rosyth dockyard in Fife has secured a multi-million-pound contract to carry out a refit of a Royal Navy ship.

HMS Sutherland, a Type 23 frigate, will become the most powerful vessel in the fleet after the £35 million overhaul.

It will be equipped with a new air-defence missile system, a improved main gun capable of firing long-range ammunition and a sophisticated submarine-hunter sonar system.
