The Turkish Naval Forces has recently initiated a process to purchase six submarines with the highest technology possible.
The submarines are to include an "air-independent propulsion" system and will be able to roam under water for 50 days and will be difficult to detect due to stealth technology, which currently grants several military vehicles ghostlike mobility.
The Defense Industry Undersecretariat is reportedly accepting bids until May 4 from firms that have prior experience building submarines. The undersecretariat wants the firms to subcontract Turkish firms to develop and install electronic command systems and modules for the submarines.
After an initial submarine is constructed by the shipyard of the winning firm, the high-tech vessels will be constructed at a naval yard in western Golcuk, Kocaeli, by Turkish engineers, technology and domestic products as far as possible.
