Naval carrier named after President Ford


Naming the USS Gerald R. Ford

Three weeks after his death, former President Gerald R. Ford was honored again in Washington, D.C. This time, it is an honor that will last for decades.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Navy's newest aircraft carrier was named after Ford. The USS Gerald R. Ford is the first in a new line of carriers that will be known as the Ford Class.

President Ford served in the Navy during World War II.
