Thousands of people are expected to watch the launch of one of the world's most advanced warships today, as the revival of shipbuilding on the Clyde continues.HMS Dauntless, one of six Type-45 destroyers worth £800m each, will be floated for the first time from the Govan yard. It has been commissioned by the Ministry of Defence to spearhead a new-look Royal Navy.
It will be launched against a colourful display from a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter and music from the Royal Marines band by Lady Burnell-Nugent, wife of Commander-in-Chief Fleet Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent, who will do the honours at 3.25pm.
