UK: MPs to grill Easton on UK’s sub building ability

Shipyard boss Murray Easton was due to be grilled over Britain’s future nuclear submarine building capability by MPs today.

Mr Easton was due to travel to Westminster to be a witness at hearings being held by the Parliamentary Defence Select Committee.

The committee is running an inquiry into “The Future of the UK’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent: the manufacturing and skills base” as part of the decision-making process about whether to replace the existing Barrow-built Trident ballistic missile submarines with new subs in the 2020s.

BAE said the details of Mr Easton’s contribution are confidential.
