U.S. next-gen terminal links with Milstar

Milstar SatelliteA new ground terminal for with the U.S. Navy's next-generation communications sat will also connect to the current satellite network.

The Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) was recently able to log on and communicate with the U.S. Milstar satellite system using low and medium-rate data waveforms, Raytheon announced Tuesday.

The achievement means the NMT can be put to use with Milstar while the Navy waits for the Defense Department's Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellites to go operational in 2010.
