Northrop Gets $104M Air Force Pact and General Dynamics Awarded $56 Million Engineering

LAIRCM systemThe Air Force awarded on Friday a $104.6 million contract to a unit of Northrop Grumman Corp. to equip NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control NE-3A aircraft with its laser-based countermeasures system.

The scope of the contract will provide installation and checkout of the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures, or LAIRCM system, as well as contract logistic support.

Raytheon Company has achieved a key milestone on the Modernized User Equipment program by successfully acquiring and tracking for the first time a new M-code military signal transmitted by the latest-generation global positioning system satellite.

Although the first modernized satellite, GPS Block IIR-14(M), has been operating with legacy signals since December 2005, it only recently began test broadcast of the new M-code.
