Syria test fired missiles over weekend, report says

Scud missileSyria test fired a series of Scud B missiles near the Iraqi border on Saturday, Israeli daily Jerusalem Post reported late Sunday.

The paper cited Israeli military sources as saying that the test “was aimed at showing the international community what the beleaguered [Bashar al-]Assad regime is capable of.”

The sources added that the missile test was not “necessarily intended to intimidate Israel, but rather any Western powers contemplating military intervention in Syria.”
