Pak Navy to boost fleet's operational capability

Pakistan Navy (PN) has geared up efforts to enhance operational capability of its fleet by undertaking a number of important projects to effectively meet challenges of the present day, well-placed official sources told TheNation on Thursday.

The sources said that the government approved PN plans for the acquisition of sub-surface, surface and aviation platforms.

It was also learnt that the PN laid special emphasis on human resource development and launched special training programme in its effort to man the modern and multi-purpose built naval fleet.

For the sub-surface fleet, government nodded for acquisition of German 214 Class submarines, to be built at Karachi Shipyard under Transfer of Technology Programme.
