Richard MacCormac: Close the cluster bomb loophole

B-1B LancerCanada’s federal government is considering Bill C-6, which would ratify the Convention on Cluster Munitions.

While Canada has officially renounced stockpiling or using these devastating weapons, the proposed bill would permit Canadian military personnel to call in airstrikes using cluster munitions, or even use them directly, if conducting joint military operations with a country that has not ratified the convention, such as the United States.

This is wrong. Canada must take a clear stand against these awful weapons.
