No plans to replace MiG-29, Sukhoi jets with newer models

Su-30MKMThere are no plans for the government to replace the country's current fleet of MiG-29 and Sukhoi fighter jets with newer models soon.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said any replacement and purchase for new fighter jets has to be looked at in the context of the country's present security and threats.

"For the time being, the government does not have plans to replace the current MiG-29 and Sukhoi fighter jets yet.
