A decision on whether or not to base a controversial project to cut up decommissioned nuclear submarines in Plymouth is to be made next year.A four-month consultation period on the Ministry of Defence's Submarine Dismantling Project ended in February. It included public exhibitions and workshops, generating 700 responses from the public, the MoD has now said.
It is proposing several options over where to base the facility, with defence chiefs stating publicly that Devonport is the "more reasonable proposition".
