U.S. Navy plans $715M project at Bangor sub base
Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor
The Navy is planning to build a new $715 million wharf to load and unload ballistic missiles for Trident submarines at the Bangor base on the Hood Canal, about 20 miles west of Seattle.
The Navy says the existing facility is 30 years old and needs repairs.
The Kitsap Sun reports the Navy expects to begin construction in 2012 on a covered 560-foot wharf to be completed in 2016
