Russia, France agree on equipment of Mistral helicopter carriers

Mistral-class Amphibious assault ship (FS Tonnerre)Russia and France have held bilateral talks, in the course of which they agreed that the French side will take account of the Russian Defence Ministry’s requirements to equipping the Mistral helicopter carriers with the systems and devices required by the Russian Navy.

A well-informed source at the Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass that the agreement on purchasing two Mistral ships, mentioned in some Russian media, envisions a state contract for purchasing two landing helicopter docks /LHD/, as well as spare parts, instruments and accessory outfits and the necessary documentation.

“The same contract presupposes supplies of properties and equipment and the servicing of both LHDs on the Russian territory,” the source said.
