Russia's naval modernization

Delta III class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarineThe Russian fleet has made many headlines lately.

The announcement that Russia would be buying a Mistral class amphibious landing ship from France, with an extra option to build three more within Russia, as well as the announced launch of the Severodinsk submarine and the completion of the Lada class submarine have brought with it quite some attention.

These events are nothing less than a signal that the large modernization of the Russian fleet is on its way.
