U.S. Navy docks missile sub at Yokosuka, affirms solidarity with Japan in China row

USS MichiganThe United States Navy has docked the USS Michigan, a powerful missile submarine, at its base in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, while also expressing solidarity with Japan in its recent maritime dispute with China.

The Michigan is an Ohio-class submarine, which at 170 meters in length and with a displacement of 16,764 metric tons when surfaced is the largest in the world.

In addition to its missile complement, the Michigan has on-board a team of Navy SEAL special forces, allowing it to serve as a base for land operations.
