Watchkeeper makes UK test flight


The Watchkeeper unmanned air system (UAS) has successfully completed its first test flight in the UK, Thales UK has announced.

Watchkeeper completed a 20-minute flight from facilities at Parc Aberporth in Wales on 14 April, and the company say the flight represents an important point in its introduction into service.

"The success of this first flight is the first milestone in a long-term programme to demonstrate that the Watchkeeper system meets the robust safety and airworthiness criteria required to fly UAVs initially on ranges and segregated airspace in the UK," Thales UK said in a statement.
