According to the French Armament Procurement Agency (Direction générale de l'armement, DGA), the first Exocet mer-mer 40 (MM40) surface-to-surface anti-ship missile has been successfully launched on 18 March 2010 by the Horizon-class “Chevalier Paul” frigate.
The launching test was carried out at the DGA missile test site at the Ile du Levant near Toulon.
The programme to upgrade 45 Exocet MM40 Block 2 missiles of the French Navy to the Block 3 standard has been awarded to MBDA in late 2008.
