Gorshkov Dispute Ends, India-Russia Close To Finalising Deal


Ending a long standoff over the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier, India and Russia have finalized a price that is “satisfactory” to both sides for the refitting and delivery."We are close to finalize the agreement (on the aircraft carrier)," officials told in New Delhi.

"The festering wound (over the price issue of aircraft carrier) has been healed up. It will no longer be a sore in the India-Russia relations. The two countries have finalized a mutually satisfactory price tag," the official told.

For over a decade the Indian and Russian officials had been negotiating the price of purchase of the aircraft carrier.Moscow at the present is asking for $2.9 billion but India wants it to be scaled back to $2.1 billion.
