Frigates sold to Romania: case dismissed

Type-22 (Broadsword) classUK's Serious Fraud Office informed the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) it halted the investigation on the persons suspected in running the contracts for the sale of two frigates by British institutions to Romania, reserving the right to reopen the case.

Thus, the DNA prosecutors ordered on 15 June 2009 to dismiss the case, whose object was the "in rem" (ie without an identified author) criminal prosecutions for taking and giving bribery, facts that were allegedly committed in concluding and unfolding the contracts of sale of the frigates "King Ferdinand" and "Queen Mary" by the United Kingdom of Great Britain to Romania, the Directorate informed.
