Raytheon wins half-billion-dollar missile contract

AIM-120 AMRAAMTucson-based Raytheon Missile Systems has won a $521 million Air Force contract for more than 600 air-to-air missiles and related items and services, the Department of Defense announced today.

The contract for the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air, Missile (AMRAAM) includes 105 AIM-120D models, the most recent version with improved data link, enhanced navigation and longer range.

The contract also includes 495 AIM-120C7 AMRAAMs for sale to allied nations through the Air Force under the Foreign Military Sales program, along with 72 AIM-120D training missiles, 11 AIM-120D missile test vehicles, parts and related items and services, the Pentagon said.
