U.S. Navy Sending Two Groton-Based Subs To Pacific

Virginia-class submarineTwo Virginia-class submarines are leaving Groton for a new home in the Pacific.

The Navy has announced that the USS Texas (SSN 775) will be homeported at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, arriving there this fall.

It will join the first Virginia-class submarine to be homeported at the naval station, USS Hawaii (SSN 776), which is headed to Hawaii this summer.

Both submarines are at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.
