The Defence Ministry spent RM280mil last year and RM225mil in 2007 to carry out maintenance work on RMAF aircraft, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.
He told Lim Lip Eng (DAP – Segambut) in a written reply that the RMAF had enough pilots and crewmen to fly the various aircraft operated by the force.
Abdullah said the RMAF had 74 pilots trained to fly 19 Hawk fighter jets in the RMAF inventory, 40 pilots for 16 MiG-29 fighter jets and 32 pilots to fly eight F/A-18D jets.
