New Australian submarine fleet a long way off

Collins class submarineThere has been a recent flurry of media reports about the plans for Australia's future submarine fleet.

Depending on who you read, the number of subs to be built is anywhere from six to 18, and the project budget is somewhere between $12 and $35 billion.

So who is right? As it happens, the correct answer is 'none of the above' - yet.
