The US Army’s Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopter is ‘probably the most survivable helicopter in the world and it proves that everyday’ in the Global War on Terrorism, said Al Winn, Boeing’s Vice President for Apache Programs. US Army Apaches have accumulated more than 350,000 combat hours in Iraq and over 70,000 hours in Afghanistan.
Winn noted the Apache ‘started as an anti-armour aircraft but today that is not its primary mission which has become supporting soldiers on the ground.’
