Cruise missiles' range keeps soldiers out of harm

Each day brings more news about the possibility of war with Iran. Congress is considering the possibility of a naval blockade against Iran, Israel is flying practice missions for a possible Iran strike, and so on. If it comes to war, one thing is certain -- the United States will be using a large number of cruise missiles.

To understand why cruise missiles are popular, think about the normal way that the military would deliver bombs to a foreign target.

In all likelihood, the Air Force would use bombers, and these planes might be escorted by fighters for protection. In a big attack, the United States may need to put $1 billion of equipment in the air, and lots of lives are in danger.
