Korea's first spy aircraft named 'Peace Eye'

The country's first spy airplane to be deployed from 2011 have been nicknamed "Peace Eye," meaning watchful eye maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, the Air Force said Monday.

The nickname was picked after a naming contest lasting several months. The six final name selections also included Kargus, Guardian, Sky Commander, Air Guardian and Peace Finder, the military said in a press release.

"The name 'Peace Eye' received the highest points in opinion polls and at a review committee meeting as it best describes the aircraft's role as an airborne early warning and control aircraft," it said.
