Indonesian Aerospace: Here, and Getting Bigger and Busier

Presence in the static display of an Indonesian-built Airtech CN-235MPA is a timely reminder of the recent resurgence of the aircraft manufacturer Dirgantara.

The company has continued aircraft production at a very low rate since the heady and ambitious days of IPTN/Nusantara a decade ago, but it was ruled bankrupt last September over its inability to pay debts to former employees dismissed in 2003.

With that decision revoked by the Supreme Court the following month (citing national strategic necessity), Dirgantara has moved ahead, accepting new orders and arranging fresh finance.
