Navy Lakehurst Welcomes Advanced New Technology

Members of the audience examined diagrams depicting the launch systemOfficials at the Lakehurst Naval Base held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Tuesday to acknowledge the completion of the base's new Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) facility.

Electromagnetic launch technology has been designed to replace the existing steam catapults used on current and future aircraft carriers.

A part of Navy Lakehurst's mission is to develop and test aircraft carrier technology, specifically launching systems for aircrafts. The EMALS system is a major step in that ongoing mission.
