MDA bids for Canadian Navy contract

Richmond-based MacDonald, Dettwiler & Associates is hoping past and current experience will help it win part of $1.1-billion contract to upgrade the Canadian Navy's main fleet.

The advanced information solutions provider is a partner in one of three consortiums bidding to outfit the Navy's 12 Halifax-class frigates with new command-and-control systems.

The contract also involves redesigning the operations rooms of the frigates and reconfiguring their masts to accommodate a new radar suite.
