Carriers order to boost Babcock
Defence and engineering firm Babcock has said the Government go-ahead for two new giant aircraft carriers could be worth as much as £600 million to the company.
Babcock will be responsible for the final assembly of the two 65,000 tonne carriers - the largest ever built in the UK - at its Rosyth shipyard in Scotland.
The firm is part of an alliance with BAE Systems, VT Group and French defence company Thales to deliver the £3.9 billion programme over the next eight years.
