INS Dega fit for fighter aircraft operation

The new runway at Visakhapatnam airport (naval air station INS Dega) has been certified fit for operation of fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
A four MiG-27 aircraft detachment of 18 Squadron of Indian Air Force, commanded by Wing Commander Sameer Mehra successfully completed week-long operations on Friday from the runway.
The ability to operate fighter aircraft day and night gives a big boost to the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities on the Eastern seaboard.
