At last, the Globemaster has landed.
The first of Canada's C-17 Globemaster III heavy-lift air transports was unveiled to the Trenton public Sunday, one day after a similar event - the first official landing in Canada - in Abbotsford, B.C.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's the time of the Globemaster," Col. Mike Hood, commander of 8 Wing-CFB Trenton, said as he stood before the huge bluish-grey jet.
Also on hand was Lt.-Gen. Angus Watt, a former Sea King helicopter pilot who's now head of Canada's air force.
"The C-17 is more than just an airplane - it's a whole new capability," said Watt.
