NH Industries offers Finland stripped-down choppers

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) reported Thursday that Nato Helicopter (NH) Industries had offered Finland a stripped-down version of its NH90 troop transport aircraft, the deliveries of which are three years behind schedule.

Finland placed an order for 20 NH90s in 2001. The aircraft are to replace the ageing fleet of Mil Mi-8 transports.

Jyri Häkämies (cons), the defence minister, told the Finnish News Agency (STT) that he did not wish to discuss ongoing procurement talks.
