New era of growth for Clydeside yards

HMS Dauntless under constructionShipbuilding on the Clyde is booming with hundreds of new jobs and tens of millions of pounds of investment.

And yard bosses at Scotstoun and Govan today

predicted more prosperous times ahead with work on Britain's two biggest warships.

BAE Systems Naval Ships has upgraded both yards at a cost of £60million and senior managers reckon it's money well spent.

They revealed the yards last year achieved their strongest growth "in generations" while this year 550 new jobs had boosted the combined workforce to almost 4000.
