India-Russia deal could service Chinese warships

Talwar class frigateA joint venture floated to provide life cycle product support services for the large number of Russian-built Indian Navy vessels could extend its activities to other Southeast Asians nations and even China if their governments agree.

"The navies of Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar operate a fair number of Russian-built vessels and we could extend our services to them through the repair facilities we have created in Goa, Mumbai and Vishakhapatnam," Rosoboronservice India managing director Commander (retd) V.G. Jayaprakasan told reporters here Thursday.

"We could even offer our services to China subject to clearance from the concerned governments," he added.
