Turkey’s defense procurement agency and Sikorsky Aircraft will sign a nearly $380 million contract Nov. 1 for the sale of 12 S-70B Seahawk naval warfare helicopters to the Turkish Navy, after resolving a dispute over the program’s funding, a top Turkish procurement official said.The agreement also will have an option for another five platforms which, if exercised, would raise the program’s cost to about $550 million.
“The problem has been resolved, and we will be signing the contract on Wednesday,” the procurement official told DefenseNews.com here late Oct. 30.
