GE partnership with Thales Australia produces $300M in export sales

Anzac class frigateThe Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence Bruce Billson today formally recognised global giant GE for the company's investment in Australia's indigenous defence industry capability.

Over a number of years GE has developed an ongoing relationship with Thales Australia involving the production of GE LM2500 gas turbine engine housing modules and kits.

Mr Billson said the production by Thales Australia of the housing modules for the GE LM2500 engines had led to export sales exceeding $300 million.

"This has not only enabled a skilled workforce of defence relevance to be retained at Bendigo in Victoria, it also represents a significant economic benefit to regional Australia," he said.
