Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer took advantage of the recent Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2006 exhibition, held last month at Air Force Base Ysterplaat, in Cape Town, to market to South Africa its capabilities in the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) sphere.“We know that South Africa has to implement an airborne surveillance programme because of the 2010 World Cup,” says Embraer executive vice-president for the defence and government market Luiz Carlos Aguiar.
“One of the requirements to host this event is that South Africa must have an airborne surveillance capability,” he states.
