Three Chinese warships visit UK

ChangbaishanChina's 18th Naval Task Force visited Portsmouth Dockyard to conduct a five-day visit to the United Kingdom after their patrol mission in the Gulf of Aden on Jan. 12 according to London-based newspaper The Daily Mail.

The task force consisted of three Chinese warships including the Changbaishan, a Type 071 amphibious assault ship, the Yuncheng, a Type 054A guided-missile frigate and the Chaohu, a Type 903 replenishment ship.

Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese ambassador and hundreds of Chinese residents welcomed the ships into Portsmouth Naval Base holding Chinese flags and Union Jacks. At Portsmouth, senior officials from both navies discussed maritime issues such as counter-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean.
