Yantar Shipyard to launch Navy's frigate Admiral Essen on November 7

Project 11356 (Admiral Grigorovich) class FFGKaliningrad, Russia based JSC Baltic Shipyard “Yantar” tomorrow (November 7) will host an official launching ceremony for the second serial frigate of Admiral Grigorovich class "Admiral Essen" ordered for the Russian Navy, the shipbuilder's press service said.

The Admiral Essen was laid down on July 8, 2011. Under two contracts signed with the Russian Ministry of Defense, Yantar Shipyard is to build a series of six frigates of Project 11356 developed by the Northern Design Bureau.

The shipyard has laid keels of five frigates. Completion of the total six vessels package is scheduled for 2017.
