The P-8 Poseidon, the most advanced search aircraft in the world, has been a part of the US Navy for just a year now.

Large metal objects like submarines create variances in the Earth's magnetic field, which the Poseidon P-8 is tuned to thanks to a tailpiece called the Magnet Anomaly Detector (MAD).

Just one problem here in that the US Navy aircraft do not have this so called 'Tailpiece'. They use a different system entirely. The only aircraft so fitted at the moment are those ordered by the Indian Navy.
