Rolls-Royce in court over submarine plant radiation claims


Rolls-Royce is to face criminal charges after being accused of exposing employees to radiation at its marine power facilities in Derby, the Times reported yesterday.

The Health and Safety Executive confirmed that it is taking the company to court over alleged failings in its nuclear submarines division after an investigation into radiation emitting from misplaced atomic materials.

The HSE and the Environment Agency have brought a case over “the management of risk of exposure to employees of ionising radiation from radioactive sources used in industrial radiography”.
